Sub-Freezing Temps Due Through Sunday in Pottstown, TriCounty Region

MOUNT HOLLY NJ - With sub-freezing temperatures expected in western Montgomery, western Chester and all of Berks counties, the National Weather Service has declared a freeze warning for Sunday (Oct. 18, 2026) from 1-9 a.m.

Additionally, Montgomery County officials have declared a Code Blue cold weather emergency from Saturday (Oct. 17) at 9 p.m. through Sunday at 9 a.m.

Under Code Blue several county agencies, as well as private and non-profit organizations, will offer expanded services for people without adequate shelter. They include the chronically homeless, and homeless families with children.

The weather service, based in Mount Holly N.J., also singled out the boroughs of Pottstown, Collegeville, Reading, and Honey Brook as areas that will be subject to far lower-than-usual temperatures.

“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation,” according to the weather service. It urged home owners to “take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”

It also warned of “possible damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.”
