HARRISBURG PA - Legislation introduced Monday (Sept. 14, 2026) would rename the North Hanover Street bridge in Pottstown to honor one of the borough’s fallen soldiers.
146th District state Rep. Joe Ciresi proposes to dedicate the span as the Commander Job W. Price Memorial Bridge.
Price is a Pottstown High School graduate and a former Navy SEAL. During his military career he was awarded three Bronze Stars, three Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals, three Defense Meritorious Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and five deployment medals.
Price died in December 2012 after nearly 20 years of service to the nation. Ciresi reports the commander succumbed to non-combat-related injuries while supporting village stability operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan.
“Commander Price represents the best of us: intelligence, integrity, and love of country dedicated in service to the United States,” Ciresi says. “By renaming the bridge in his honor, we commemorate his life, and signal to all who pass over it the virtues by which we should live.”
Ciresi’s bill has already attracted bipartisan House support from nine co-sponsors. The legislation must pass through several committees, receive the Legislature’s approval, and be signed by the governor before the bridge name change occurs.
