BIRDSBORO PA - One of the latest improvements on Pennsylvania’s first and only “National Water Trail” has officially re-opened to the public.
The newly upgraded Reeser’s Landing in Exeter Township now features a concrete boat launch (the earlier launch was removed), a new paved parking area for 22 vehicles, and a gravel parking area for trailers. New erosion and sediment controls were installed. All are anticipated to better accommodate river users.
The landing is located at 1018 Gibraltar Rd, Birdsboro PA. It also provides access to the nearby Exeter Scenic Trail.
It also is the state’s first location to display signage for the water trail. The Schuylkill River was granted that designation during June (2026) by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum.
A ribbon-cutting attended by more than 30 state, county, and local officials, as well as project partners, attended the re-opening event. Then then climbed into boats and took a five-mile paddle along the river, the Pottstown-based Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area reports.
State Sen. Judy Schwank notes the project was supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, with Community Conservation Partnership Program funding.
The Reeser’s Landing improvements are part of the Greenways’ “continuing work to connect people with the river and expand high-quality recreational access throughout the Schuylkill River Watershed,” it says.
