POTTSTOWN PA - Drivers for TransNet, the regional transportation system that operates from bases in Pottstown and three other Montgomery County locations, recently won honors in a statewide bus driver competition.
Employees of TransNet-member companies demonstrated their excellence during the 2026 Bus Roadeo in Williamsport PA.
The event was held during early August by the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association. An annual competition, it focuses on safety and skills that the association says “spotlight the professionalism of Pennsylvania’s public transit operators.”
Partner companies in the TransNet coalition, also known as Suburban Transit Network Inc., regularly provide small bus and shuttle services from Pottstown and elsewhere for seniors and the disabled. They also serve local corporations and colleges.
The partnership includes Mainline Transit Service Inc. and Tri County Transit Service, both in Pottstown; Valley Transit Service Inc. in Red Hill; two divisions of Easton Coach, both in Norristown; and Bux-Mont Transportation in Willow Grove.
In its September newsletter, TransNet reports its roadeo team consisted of employees from Easton, Bux-Mont, and Valley. TransNet Safety and Training Manager Mike Gerhart accompanied the team.
Three of its members - identified as Kristin, Ed, and Marc, all of Bux-Mont - achieved two of four "perfect wheelchair securement scores.” That was no small feat, TransNet adds; they competed against a field of more than 40 drivers. Kristin, a first-time competitor, placed fourth.
“We are very proud of all of our transportation professionals,” TransNet says, and “grateful every day for the efforts of our risk management team in training and supporting our partner drivers.”
