Pottstown Discovery Center Closing Tuesday (Sept. 15) for Refresh

POTTSTOWN PA - To enable a spruce-up, clean-up, and overall refresh, the Pottstown Children's Discovery Center at 95 S. Hanover St. reports it will be closed Tuesday (Sept. 15, 2026).

It’s a one-day-only undertaking, the discovery center says. It will allow staff members and volunteers to “give our space a little extra love!,” its e-mail announcement adds.

Kids should not fret. The center will quickly return to its regularly scheduled days and times, beginning with Thursday (Sept. 17) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Fridays, Saturdays, and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is regularly closed Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays.

Perhaps more importantly, the discovery center also intends to dedicate time to remodel and improve some upstairs exhibits. As a result, second-floor displays will have limited access in the following week, it says.

Everything there will be ready for unveiling, though, by Sept. 26 (Saturday). That’s when the discovery center and other childrens’ museums will observe the “Worldwide Day of Play.”

If possible, parents and others are encouraged to financially support the refresh effort. Contributions can be made online here, or by making a purchase on the discovery center’s Amazon Wishlist, here.
