POTTSTOWN PA - Playground updates and accessibility improvements are now completed at Pottstown’s Brookside Park, 845 Brookside Ave., borough Parks and Recreation Director Michael Lenhart reported Friday (Sept. 25, 2026).
Construction fencing that earlier surrounded the neighborhood park also was removed Friday. All that remains are minor clean-up items, like mowing its lawn.
Thanks to design suggestions received from Brookside community residents, the borough says the park’s reorientation and its playground item replacements make it suitable for ages 2-5 and 5-12.
The park plan was published in March 2025. Its renovation started earlier this year.
The inclusive Bankshot basketball court
"An inclusive Bankshot basketball court” has been installed at the park’s southeast corner. It’s a colorful, inviting area that allows activity for 12 users within a defined space.

Drainage was improved with a rain garden. Unhealthy trees were removed, and new native shade trees planted. That to-be-mowed lawn?; it is purposely intended to offer “room for open-play lawn space,” “casual-use amenities,” and maybe other future improvements, the borough indicates.
Conveniently, there also are benches from which parents or other adults can sit and watch kids at play. The park provides 8-foot long picnic tables, too, where families can enjoy snacks or a meal brought from home.
Funding for project came from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, $165,300; the borough, $68,000; the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation, $30,000; Montgomery County, $135,400; and a private donor, $10,000, according to the Pottstown Area Regional Recreation Committee.
