HARRISBURG PA - A $250,000 state grant awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services will help The Salvation Army of Eastern PA and Delaware expand a program that assists victims of human trafficking.
The Salvation Army’s “New Day to Stop Trafficking” Program was established 15 years ago. It provides services to victims of sex and labor trafficking. Its goal is to ensure victims have a safe and supportive environment, and progress toward a healthy future.
The region overseen by The Salvation Army of Eastern PA and Delaware in part includes facilities in Pottstown, Boyertown, Norristown, and Reading.
The grant, announced Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2026), expands services formerly available only in greater Philadelphia to across eastern Pennsylvania. Last year the program served more than 1,100 victims with trauma-informed case management, housing navigation, and other essential support.
State Reps. Jennifer O’Mara of Delaware County, and Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz and Manuel Guzman - both of Berks County - jointly made the grant announcement.
