Can Your Pet Benefit From A Blessing?; Oct. 3 in Pottstown

POTTSTOWN PA - Could your pet benefit from some divine protection?

An annual “Blessing of the Animals” is scheduled for Oct. 3 (2026; Saturday) from 1-3 p.m. at the Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, 1710 Ridge Rd. Admission is free, although donations are appreciated.

Blessings of individual pets will begin after a short non-denominational service at 1 p.m. in the farm’s main barn.

Never been to the Ryerss Farm? It cares for older horses, some of which have been rescued from earlier owners, and allows them to live out their lives in peace.

“The horses at Ryerss are never worked, sold at auction, or used for experiments,” its website explains. “They simply spend their days grazing and enjoying life with their friends, as part of the herd.”

The farm will open Saturday at noon, enabling visitors to visit and look around at its operations. They also can meet its horse residents, and visit its gift shop.

Pet owners are encouraged to bring their dogs, cats, and other small animals, on leashes or in carriers, for individual blessings. The farm’s retired and rescued horses will be blessed too.

No registration is required. However, the farm hopes to be prepared for a crowd of any size, so an RSVP on its Facebook page would be appreciated.
